Shentalls florists Ltd

11 market hall, Chesterfield S40 1AR, UK – 01246 232295

Excellent staff assistance, a most beautiful floral arrangement at a very reasonable cost and delivery exactly to my requirements. This was an overseas purchase from Canada, handled very delicately at a most difficult family time. My grateful thanks to all Shentall's staff involved in this transaction. My review does not begin to do justice to the level of service I received. A wonderful experience altogether. I highly recommend Shentall's Florist to anyone, any time for any floral needs.

I recently called into Fresh Ideas to get some flowers. The entire shop was filled with fantastic looking flowers and displays that looked amazing but I decided I wanted to get something more specific to what my girlfriend loves. I spoke to one of the women in there who was more than accommodating, asked me exactly what I'd like, how much I'd like to spend and told me what she'd do preparing the bouquet. I can honestly say that the bouquet looked fantastic, far better than most I've ever purchased and my girlfriend loved them. Definitely returning back here in future.

Hoods Florist & Gifts

18 Station Rd, Chesterfield S41 9AQ, UK – 01246 454670

My brother presented me with the most beautiful hand-tied bouquet of flowers from Hoods for my birthday . Absolutely gorgeous! He says he always uses Hoods as their service is excellent and flowers always beautiful. Many thanks!

The flowers for my daughters Wedding were fabulous, but what made the 5 star review choice was the service and attention to detail. If like me you have no time to visit florists and your daughter sees a picture on line you email that across with a sample of ribbon in the post.! Numerous emails later from Eleanor to confirm she was on the right lines meant that everything was spot on and I had time to do all the other time consuming jobs, like table decorations. Again Eleanor supplied the flowers and I was able to fill the jam jars exactly as my daughter wanted. All in all Eleanor remained calm ,professional and flexible at a very stressful time. Many many thanks.

Tips - Caring for your flowers once they are delivered

Placing your flowers in vase half to two thirds full with lukewarm water, will help closed buds to start opening.

  • Be careful when un-wrapping a hand-tied bouquet as it is delivered in a water bubble to keep the flowers fresh.
  • Arranging your flowers in cold water should be avoided as this can reduce the their life in the vase.
  • Avoid puting flowers in metal or aluminium containers - glass is ideal. Keep your flowers in a cool location, away from draughts, direct heat or sunlight. Arrange once unwrapped
  • Your flowers may take up to 24 hours after being placed in water to reach their full potential.
  • Strip off all excess foliage and leaves below the water level to reduce any harmful bacteria within the water.
  • Bacteria can block the stem and stop the flowers taking up the water.unwrap. Flowers like their stems trimmed. So, trim them, at an angle with a knife (rather than scissors) by an inch or so. When trimming stems, always cut at an angle of roughly 45degrees; this increases the surface area allowing your flowers to absorb more water.
  • If a Rose starts to droop at the head, re-cut the stem, wrap the head in paper to support it upright and plunge 5cms of the stem into boiling water for about 30seconds. Cut the stem again and place in deep cold water for two hours.trim

Most orders are accompanied by a sachet of cut flower food which will encourage buds to open and help to prolong the life and beauty of your flowers. Top up regularly with water and flower food, removing any fading flowers. Ensure the floristry foam used in arrangements is moist and topped up daily; this helps to prolong the life and vibrancy of your arrangements.
