Chesterfield Borough Council

Town Hall, Rose Hill, Chesterfield S40 1LP, UK – 01246 345345

HQ of Chesterfield Borough Council and seat of local government for the borough of Chesterfield. The town hall is the main office for Chesterfield Borough Council, a number of voluntary sector organisations, and from 2018 (the building is currently undergoing internal renovations) the home of the Register Office for births, deaths, and marriages. The building is of historical significance - built in 1935, it's a replica of Stormont, Northern Ireland's parliament building, a scaled down size. It isn't as large as Stormont, but has a near identical frontage. It has a number of meeting rooms that can be hired by external organisations. The meeting rooms are walnut panelled, and the decoration of the town hall has an Egyptian theme, with the ceilings decorated with lotus flowers. The furniture of the meeting rooms was specifically designed for the town hall. Disabled access is via a ramp down to the basement for the voluntary sector organisations based there, and a ramped entrance to the rest of the building, both at the east end entrance (the end closest to the town centre). At the top of a hill, on Rose Hill, the town hall overlooks Shentall Gardens and has a great view. There are four pay and display car parks close to the town hall, two directly behind the town hall, with disabled parking close to the rear of the building. There is limited on-street parking at the front of the town hall.
